It’s not easy to be an anime lover in this day and age. You have people trying to tell you that Japan doesn’t make good cartoons anymore, parents who are terrified of your hobby, the kids at school who stare at you like you’re some kind of freak. But anime has a rich history and is a very entertaining way to teach values and impart lessons. Many people consider the ’80s to be the golden age of anime. Then, Studio Ghibli, Kyoto Animation, J.C. Staff, and Daicon Films (now Gainax) were founded, and producers began making films of a more diverse range of genres. The 80s were the heyday of anime. These were quirky characters with fun stories that often turned out to be action-packed. Let’s take a look at some of these classics that are worth revisiting! Dragon BallAn anime adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga, it covers the adventures of Gokuu Son, a boy living in the woods all by himself until he meets a girl named Bulma seeking a set of magical items called Dragon Balls. Bulma hopes to collect all seven artifacts and wish for a perfect boyfriend since they grant one wish to whoever collects all seven. Bulma knows that Gokuu has a dragon ball, but he refuses to part with it, so she offers him a deal: if he lets her borrow the power of the dragon ball, he can accompany her on her journey. As a result, they set out on a lifetime journey. The journey isn’t a solo endeavor. During their journey, they meet Muten-Roshi and his wannabe disciple Kuririn, who help Gokuu become a stronger martial artist in preparation for the upcoming World Martial Arts Tournament. In any case, it is not all fun and games; the ability to grant wishes is powerful, and there are plenty of people who would do far worse than just wish for a boyfriend. They train to become stronger fighters so that those who would abuse the power will not be able to take advantage of it. They also use their newly found strength to help those around them along the way. Vampire Hunter DIn the years following its release, Vampire Hunter D became known as a cult classic, partly because it was among the first anime films to be released in the United States during the early ’90s. It was a direct anime adaptation of the source material, the Vampire Hunter D novel, published only two years prior. A blonde-haired, blue-eyed farm girl named Doris Lang hires the vampire hunter to kill the vampire noble who bit her and attacked her. Similarly to Marvel’s Blade, D is a half-blooded vampire with few of the usual vampire vulnerabilities. Forbes reports that Vampire Hunter D was deemed a major success upon release. With its combination of sci-fi and high fantasy settings, the film was a hit everywhere, and people still talk about it today. The macabre classic was revisited by Bloody Disgusting in 2019, which declared it “delightful” for its combination of “cheese and gore”. If you know anything about anime, then you’re well aware that the dads in these shows are often either dead or just not around. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some great ones out there, though! What’s a good anime without an awesome father figure? Dads are awesome, you know that. They’re always there for their kids, and they’ll do anything to protect them. But some dads go above and beyond the call of duty. These dads will sacrifice everything just so their children can be happy, even if it means giving up their own lives! Here are 25 of our favorite anime dads who let nothing stand in the way of family happiness: Jouichirou Yukihira (Food Wars)Jouichirou is laid back, but he is also a professional and has a serious side that shows every time he is cooking. His cooking skills are world-renowned. Jouichirou was a very charismatic student in his student days, earning respect and admiration of others. It is still evident that he is popular among Souma’s buddies at the Polar Star Dormitory to this day. The aura he exudes is manly. His eccentricities also included cooking strange food and neglecting his duties as an Elite Ten member as he pursued winning competitions. Byakuya Ishigami (Dr Stone)One rarely sees a parent who is so proud of their child. The boy’s father, Byakuya, never doubts Senku’s abilities, never wavering in his belief. Byakuya worked endlessly for Senku, even selling his car to get lab equipment. He put his money where his mouth was, literally. Totally aware that he would one day become one of the top players. The father believed in his child, even when the world appeared bleak and humanity itself was endangered. As a present to his genius son in the future, he left both a heart-warming message as well as educational insights. Check Out: 20 Of The Best Anime Like Dr. Stone Yoshifumi Nitta (Hinamatsuri)Nitta is just a yakuza member with a golden heart. The moment Hina fell into his lap, he willingly took on the father role and tried his best to be a role model. Despite knowing what Hina was capable of, he always looked out for her and her friends. Word even spread through the underground that he was now a very loving single parent. Hajime Nagumo (Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest)Papa Hajime isn’t Myuu’s real father, but as they journey together, Hajime is stepping up his game to be a parental figure. Mostly, being very protective and caring towards Myuu and Yue. Affection is something he rarely gives to anyone else. Check Out:17 Anime Like Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest Mr. Kimura (Azumanga Daioh!)Why would Mr. Kimura, who is pervy and annoying, even make the list? Despite Mr. Kimura’s inappropriate behavior at school, he has a hidden good side that deserves attention. According to his students, he is a great family man with a loving wife and a happy daughter. He is also quite generous, donating a lot to charities as well as to Shinto shrines (he prayed for peace on earth and goodwill for all). If only he showed more maturity at school, too. Maes Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)Even Maes’ closest acquaintances find Maes to be a charming and cheerful individual. He is, of course, most noticeably infatuated with his wife, Gracia, and their three-year-old daughter, Elicia. Maes is never without a photograph of them on hand, and as a punishment or a reward for a job well done, he constantly brags about them and offers up glimpses of their photographs to peers and friends. Check Out: 30 Most Popular Anime of All Time, According to My AnimeList Members Shirou Fujimoto (Blue Exorcist)Despite the mysterious nature of Shiro Fujimoto, he has a kind heart and a protective attitude. Despite being a Paladin, he is not ruthless toward Demons, as he befriended the cat Sith, Kuro, and was Rin’s adoptive father, allowing him to calm Rin down. Even though he was born as Satan’s twins, Shiro raised Yukio and Rin as if they were his own children. It was for them that he would sacrifice himself if it meant that his sons would be protected. Check Out: 16 of The Best Anime Like Blue Exorcist Nanashi (Sword of the Stranger)The movie we’re discussing here consists of battles and death, so Nanashi and the young boy Kotarou aren’t shown a great deal. However, their impact was so lasting that it was hard to ignore. Despite being a job, it was so precious to see Nanashi joking around with Kotarou (and playing with Tobimaru). He taught him how to ride. It appeared he would have to risk his life in order to save the young boy he had just encountered. The banter they share is both sweet and funny. Jukai (Dororo)Despite being a strong leader, Hayakkimaru’s biological father sacrificed his son for the country’s prosperity. Jukai was a sinful youth, on the other hand. But yet he gave Hyakkimaru a body, a name, and the gift of love. It’s clear who has the right to call himself his father of the two. Truth be told, Jukai was terrified of what he’d brought back from the dead. In spite of that, he never stopped caring. In his final moments, he wished happiness to the cursed baby he had discovered so many years before. Check Out: 26 of The Best Anime Swordsman of All Time Naofumi Iwatani (The Rising of the Shield Hero)It seems rather wholesome if we ignore how Naofumi and Raphtalia first met. They had to learn how to fight from Naofumi so early in their lives. He was actually more of a caring yet demanding guardian than a cruel master. Keeping them both safe, getting them treats, and having fun here and there are all common practices. This is what it all comes down to. The fact that Naofumi stepped in was a blessing for both of them, considering what would have happened had he not done so. Check Out: 9 Of The Best Anime Like Rising of The Shield Hero Tomomi Masaoka (Psycho-Pass)After both parties reach adulthood, parent-child relationships can become quite difficult. Especially if the ideologies of the two parties diverge. Tomomi and his boy are in this situation. Despite their very different positions, they are both cops. Tomomi’s son showed open hostility and was never grateful at all, but he always stood by and went the extra mile to help. I’m going to spoil a few things for you: It was Tomomi’s only wish for his son that he keep on living and finding happiness, even in the last moments of his life. Only his son mattered to him, not the mission or his own life. Hajime Tsunashi (I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying)My anticipation of Hajime’s incredible fatherhood precedes the birth of the child. The couple already has such a loving, healthy relationship that I find it hard to imagine that they will not cherish their child with all their hearts. They do get into fights from time to time. However, they always emerge from the experience with more understanding than when they entered. Additionally, the man writes anime reviews as his profession. The majority of his portrayals portray him to be mostly honourable and good-hearted, often bearing compassion and offering assistance to others in distress. Bols (Akame Ga Kill)Does Bols have a good character? Honestly, he has way too many corpses in his closet to hold a traditional funeral. Does he make a good father? Unexpectedly, yes. We see that his family is important to him more than life itself in the few scenes when we see him with them. In addition, he shows nothing but kindness and love to them. The man’s appearance may lead us to believe otherwise, but Bols is a devoted family man who wants nothing more than to spend time with his wife and daughter. He might have been dead more than he should have been, but he was always there for his daughter, despite his own mortality. Furthermore, let’s appreciate all of his efforts to get to Android 18 in the first place! That takes commitment. He isn’t like this Saiyan Chadd who woos women then trains half their life. Natsuki Kenichi (Re: Zero)Imagining a father wrestling with his son to eat breakfast is like something out of a teen movie. Kenichi is cool and playful indeed. Kenichi let his son find his own path despite his son’s bad behavior, ditching school and acting like a brat. Kenichi listened to Subaru and reminded him that no matter what happened or happened in the future, he was great. We see small flashbacks of Kenichi throughout the episode because a good father supports their children. Kenichi does all this within the time frame of one episode. As soon as the dormitories were introduced, he did pledge to raise Midoriya. Therefore, I consider it a legal guardian. It wasn’t just his power that made him the symbol of peace, but also his charisma and love. Midoriya’s scenes alone with All Might are all heart-wrenching. It is evident that All Might is always proud of young Midorya and always tries to elevate him to become the greatest hero ever. Sadly, she doesn’t get to experience a nice home-cooked meal very much because he doesn’t have the time. However, he meets Kotori through the power of anime, and they soon find themselves cooking delicious food and dining together. Though it’s a juggling act, Kouhei is making the best of it as a single father. Yato (Noragami)I find it amazing how the show with the most realistic father-son dynamic is also about gods. In this case, the dynamic involves an ancient god of destruction and a teenage weapon boy. I guess you’ll just have to accept anime for what it is! It’s immediately apparent that Yato doesn’t know how to connect with Yukine and form a meaningful relationship. Their relationship flourished over the course of the series. Regardless of Yato’s goofiness, when his friends Yukine and Iki were threatened, he would put on his game face and defeat their enemies. Check Out: Top 31 Anime with Overpowered Main Characters Naruto Uzumaki (Boruto)Naruto’s father role is a pretty impressive one, although Boruto still denies it. Despite the fact that Naruto never had parents, it’s evident that he does his best to guide his children in the right direction. Even if it means exposing their faults. Occasionally, he relies on shadow clones to fill in for him at big events since he’s so busy, but the man is a Hokage. Furthermore, he has almost sole responsibility for world peace. Whatever Boruto might say, Naruto gets my recommendation. The Japanese anime genre is full of different types of zombies, ranging from mindless undead to intelligent zombies with personalities and motivations. It doesn’t matter if you want to see cute girls fighting off hordes of the undead or psychotic killers devouring human flesh; this list will satisfy your needs. It’s not just about brains! Here are some great anime series where zombies take center stage: School-Live!Initially, it is difficult to believe that this cute school anime is about zombies because the animation is so adorable. Though it shouldn’t come as a shock, Japan’s anime industry often deviates from Western trends in zombies. It’s hard not to like School-Live when you see cute school girls doing cute things and then learn that they are the only surviving members of their school in a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies. This popular anime depicts the struggle of a young school student to maintain some normalcy while trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. The Empire of CorpsesVictor Frankenstein, a scientist from an alternate 18th-century England, has discovered a way to reanimate corpses. A new method of reanimating corpses was discovered after his creation was destroyed, which led to the use of reanimated corpses for manual labor in the 19th century. In contrast to Victor’s method, this newer method is unable to return the corpse’s soul to its body. Later, the British government asks a medical student to locate Frankenstein’s notes about reanimating a corpse with a soul. The Empire of Corpses has a unique plot and interesting characters, as well as ones inspired by historical and popular literary figures. Sunday Without GodA mystery, supernatural, fantasy zombie anime about a world that God has abandoned, where humans can no longer procreate or die. But God left behind gravekeepers—beings with the ability to help the living dead find rest. Anyone who dies still exists without any signs of decay, but Ai is the protagonist helping an immortal gunslinger find the truth of their world so they can help the rest. Corpse Princess (Shikabane Hime)Makina Hoshimura, the titular character of Shikabane Hime, has also been transformed into a zombie. Despite the fact that she doesn’t consume brains or look like a zombie, she is definitely undead. After she is killed along with her family, she is reanimated, but first, she must kill 108 more revived corpses to join her family in heaven. By defeating the Seven Stars undead group, she hopes to avenge her family’s death. Makina is a cool female character who uses dual MAC-11 machine guns to destroy her enemies. Kabaneri of the Iron FortressWith a steampunk setting, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is often compared to Attack on Titan, except the enemies are dead monsters called Kabane instead of giant, unfathomable creatures. The similarities between the two shows are due to the fact that the people of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress are protected from the Kabanes by fortress-like stations and walls. Among the stations is a steam locomotive seized by the Kabane. A young engineer named Ikoma refuses to give in to this ill fate and develops a weapon that can kill the Kabane, thus beginning his heroic journey. Check Out: Anime Like Attack On Titan: What To Watch After Finishing The Show Highschool of the DeadThe most famous zombie anime on record is High School of the Dead. This is largely due to its serious plot, exciting turn of events, and resemblance to Western TV shows and movies in the zombie genre that are popular today. Five high school students work together to escape their high school in the midst of a zombie outbreak. Fan service is at times excessive, but the gore makes up for it! He makes a resurrection potion that accidentally gets consumed by Rea Sanka, who becomes his zombie girlfriend. Chihiro must now figure out how to deal with this unique dilemma as he tries to live life day-to-day with the unusual circumstances of having an undead relationship partner. It would be a sweet romantic comedy if it wasn’t for the zombie theme. Is This a Zombie? (Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka)Aside from being an anime series about zombies, this show is also a comedy that makes it stand out in this list of zombie anime. The show focuses on Ayumu, who is tragically murdered by a serial killer. He is resurrected by a cute necromancer, but again he is killed, then becomes a magical girl. Now we have a magical-girl-zombie-boy battling monsters and demons. Hellsing UltimateThe Hellsing Ultimate OVA was produced after the original anime Hellsing was completed. It actually follows the manga better than the original anime. In this series, the supernatural horror element is infused with zombies. A number of supernatural monsters plague England, and the Hellsing Operation tries to control them. There is a main character named Abraham Van Helsing in the story. Additionally, the series consists of only ten episodes, so it wouldn’t take long for you to catch up. By undergoing the transplant, he becomes a human-ghoul hybrid who must now eat human flesh to survive. Ken must find a way to preserve his humanity while keeping his newfound status as a ghoul hidden. In contrast to regular flesh-eating zombies, ghouls attempt to live a normal life in society, making the audience sympathize with them and sometimes taking their side. Check Out: 14 Anime To Watch If You Can’t Get Enough Of Tokyo Ghoul Zombieland SagaThe anime isn’t your typical idol-themed anime. As Sakura Minamoto, the protagonist of the series, is an undead female idol, it does have some elements from the idol genre. Incorporating zombies into the plot opens up an entirely new world of zombie idols in just a few episodes. Even though I am not sure how much admiration you would give to zombie idols, given their rotting corpses and all. Overall, though, it’s a pretty entertaining show. Gyo Tokyo Fish AttackBased on the horror manga of the same name by Junji Ito, GYO: Tokyo Fish Attack is a 75-minute OVA (original video animation). It appears that instead of human corpses haunting Tokyo, undead fish with diseases that are also transmitted to humans are attacking. In the midst of all of this chaos, a girl named Kaori sets out to find her missing boyfriend. A more bizarre aspect of this anime is that the zombie fish have metal legs so they can walk on land. That’s a whole lot of NOPE! Seoul StationIf you like Train to Busan and the complexities of a zombie apocalypse story, then this series is for you. Even if it’s not your favorite style or genre, I promise that there will be some elements in here that make up for its lack of originality. You might even enjoy how unpredictable the ending was! GungraveThe anime series Gungrave, based on the third-person shooter Gungrave, follows the path towards revenge taken by the main character. The series’ lead character, Brandon Heat, was formerly a human named Brandon Heat who, after being murdered by his best friend and mafia partner, was brought back to life as an almost invincible zombie-like creature. Now he lives for the revenge of his best friend who betrayed him while killing fellow undead on the side. Check Out: 14 Gruesome Anime Like Berserk Zombie-LoanZombie-Loan is an anime that starts out as a typical shonen. In the beginning, you will see Chika and Shito fighting together against zombies with their Shinigami eyes. It’s very entertaining! However, this show quickly turns into one of those slow-paced slice-of-life shows which ends before anything significant happens. As this is an anime adaptation of the manga, it makes sense to support the creator by reading the source material if you want to know what happens next. TokkouTokkou is a zombie anime that doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves. The anime series has a lot of gore, so this show isn’t for kids. But perhaps the reason why it’s not popular lies in its animation style and plot: Tokkou contains cute guys slaying rotting zombies around town with curses being thrown here and there along the way to saving humanity from becoming monsters themselves. Black Butler: Book of the AtlanticBlack Butler features a lot of demons and is a terrific watch. However, that doesn’t really fit this list. Unless we consider the 2017 film “Book of the Atlantic”. Now it’s an anime about zombies. Fans of Black Butler should not miss this film. We get more opportunities to droll over Sebastien, and Grell, in an unexpected twist, was a great addition to the series. The show is still worth checking out, even if you didn’t enjoy the original series. What more could you ask for when you’ve got demon butlers, grim reapers, and zombies? Mo Dao Zu ShiThis show was a masterpiece. It is so well polished, the story is incredibly detailed, and the world makes sense as a whole. Zombies are involved in this unusual plot, but it’s not your traditional zombie apocalypse with hordes of undead chasing after people to eat their brains; black magic also plays an important role in this drama too! Check Out: Best Short Anime You Can Finish In A Day Shi XiongAs well as maintaining the zombie formula, it also deviates from it completely. This series offers a real zombie apocalypse, which is good. But it can knock you out of your comfort zone because the show is so sarcastic and critical. It seems there is a zombie who likes paper money and does not care about brains, and kids are dressed as giraffes. Soul EaterWhile Soul Eater is not purely about zombies, zombies are present in the series. Based on the manga of the same name, the anime follows the teams at the Death Weapon Meister Academy. Weapons masters and weapons that can shapeshift into human-like forms form the teams. It is required that they collect 99 evil souls and one witch, in that order, to make a death scythe that pleases the Shinigami master of the academy. And the best part of any good story is the characters. And most of these anime characters are almost always paired up. There is always at least one pair of characters in every anime series that work so well together that it is impossible not to think of the two of them as one. There is an unbreakable bond between those two characters despite being part of a larger group and having a unique relationship. Some pairings just seem to work. Whether it’s between best friends, siblings or even enemies, these duos in anime have something special that makes them good for each other and fun to watch on screen together. Saitama & Genos (One-Punch Man)In the popular anime series One Punch Man, Saitama is the main character, and Genos is his disciple. As an S-class hero, Genos is known as the Demon Cyborg. From his cyborg physiology, Genos possesses incredible speed, strength, and endurance. As far as beings go, Saitama is the most powerful. One punch is all he needs to end a fight. Since he is so powerful, he no longer enjoys the thrill of battle. Check Out: 10 Must Watch Anime Like One Punch Man Sekkekkyu & Hakkekkyu (Cells At Work)The ability for red blood cells to function is not possible without white blood cells. Cells at Work shows a much greater relationship between the two. Erythrocytes (Sekkekky) and neutrophils (Hakkekky) form a bond that goes beyond normal bodily functions. It was a long time before the two met that their relationship began. Hakkekky rescued Sekkekky from a bacterium when she was a young girl. This was probably why she was able to find him on her first day at work: They already had a strong bond. Maka & Soul (Soul Eater)The Maka & Soul duo might appear hard to understand. It has something to do with the fact that one isn’t a powerful girl, while the other is a powerful scythe. But they work well together. There’s little romantic tension between them, for the most part. There’s no Ross and Rachel vibe here. Their objective is to combat evil forces. Some situations might take them a while to understand each other. They eventually realize what the other wants and make it happen. Hunk & Pidge (Voltron)They are two of the five members that make up Lion Force. Yet, it wouldn’t seem like it to know them individually. Pidge is immensely intelligent and capable of pushing Voltron to an entirely new level. Hunk enjoys eating. Quite a bit. I think they make a good comedic couple, regardless of the Voltron version. Occasionally, their antics get them into trouble. It’s okay, because they stick together when adversity strikes. Goku & Vegeta (Dragon Ball)The two have complicated histories, and no one would have predicted they would become the most powerful duo in anime, considering that they have each other’s backs no matter what. Despite their hate-love relationship and rivalry, they were motivated to work hard despite wanting to beat each other. Sora & Shiro (No Game No Life)Sora and Shiro are a well-oiled machine that cannot function without one another. When you separate them, they may explode with rage or anxiety. They have the ability to take over an entire country in just weeks if they work together as a team—which is exactly what happens throughout much of No Game No Life (NGNL). Thanks to their intelligence and skillsets, Sora & Shiro can always count on each other when facing any problem at all. While they were fighting, neither brother blamed the other (despite Ed’s worry). As time and time again, their journey towards finding the Philosopher’s Stone shows that they are always going to be there for each other, no matter what life circumstances they face, and no matter how rigorous the training, they tend to strengthen their bond. Several times, it’s stated that Ed is not hunting for the Philosopher’s Stone for himself but as a gift from his brother. Ed has experience in performing Alchemy without using Transmutation Circles, but Al lacks that skill. In spite of this, the younger Elric brother is better at hand-to-hand combat. The two might not be best friends, but they still support each other when fighting epic battles throughout Samurai Champloo. Kamina and Simon ( Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)Simon and Kamina’s friendship is genuine. They don’t let things go unsaid, especially when it comes to Kamina, who pushes Simon beyond his limits with his charisma. When they are on the battlefield together, you can see that they are meant for each other because of their incredible power that propels both characters forward into greatness! Isaac & Miria (Baccano!)Isaac and Miria are a strange mix of main and supporting characters who lack common sense. Aside from getting the most screentime of all the characters, they tend to keep the plot moving forward. Typically, they are best known for helping other characters, most of whom are more suited to the hero role. It is Isaac and Miria’s character that bounces off each other that makes their relationship so special. Over the course of the entire show, the partners in crime are never serious for more than two minutes. Their subject line changes completely each time you believe they’re going to say something thoughtful or epic. The concept of a powerful giant robot needing compatible pilots to combat alien threats has been a proven formula that hooked mecha fans. A contemporary interpretation of the mecha genre also explores fascinating ideas about human nature and the difficulties most young pilots face in handling a super robot. The formula gave rise to the Sci-Fi psychological drama mecha and the action Sci-Fi mecha series. Thus, anime shows and movies featuring science fiction, fantasy, and horror employ this concept. The Mecha series is usually dominated by robots of all sizes, magical robots, human-sized exoskeletons, and armor. Since the mecha genre anime has been in the game for a long time, it is pretty hard to find the best mecha anime. So, for mecha fans, here are our top picks for the best mecha anime. Guilty CrownWith his ability to unlock the mysteries of the GHQ, Funeral Parlor, and Lost Christmas, a high school student is caught up in an action-packed anime called Guilty Crown. His discovery of the truth will, however, come at a much higher cost than he could have ever imagined. The year is 2039. An apocalyptic virus, otherwise known as “Lost Christmas,” swept the once proud nation a decade ago, forcing the once proud country of Japan under the rule of GHQ, an independent military force. Gai Tsutsugami, leader of the Funeral Parlor, represents the sole resistance to the brutal regime of GHQ. During a major mission, Inori Yuzuriha, a key member of Funeral Parlor, runs into the weak and socially awkward Shuu Ouma, resulting in him gaining the “Power of Kings”—a skill that allows the wielder to draw forth the representations of an individual’s psyche, or “voids” Shuu, now a reluctant member in the fight against GHQ, must learn to harness his sudden power if he is to assist in the reunification of Japan. Code Geass: Lelouch of the RebellionThe original series, Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch, was developed by Sunrise animation studio with design contributions from the all-female Japanese manga artist group Clamp. Since then, there have been significant attempts to regain independence in this country under the tyrannical rule of these tyrants. Check Out: 25 Best Beginner Anime on Netflix (Part 2) Japan Sinks: 2020Japan Sinks: 2020 went well beyond the disaster, examining socio-political elements that are still being discussed in Japan today. It illustrates the devastating effects of earthquakes that there is more to it than one big earthquake. There are aftershocks, and you may experience landslides, fires, automobile accidents, flooding, or even deadly stampedes. Simply watching the first two episodes reveals how unforgiving the world is. It’s hard to imagine that death can be just around the corner while those you care about may not even have time to grieve. The anime also exposes the cruel and treacherous sides of humanity with its depiction of discrimination, racism, and human cruelty. Check Out: 35 Of The Best Horror Anime That Will Traumatize You RainbowThe show Rainbow makes a powerful point about prison reform and prisoners’ rights, especially when it comes to teenagers who are lawbreakers. While the anime is cruel, it is needed this way. Prisons do not always serve their intended purpose, despite what many people want to think. The prison system is a topic that’s often discussed in documentaries, whether in developed or developing countries. Rainbow reminds audiences that political, social, or even sexual power can be abused by figures of authority and that not everyone behind bars is a morally deplorable human being – some have moral values greater than the guards and doctors tasked with reforming them. Now and Then, Here and ThereNow and Then, Here and There is a dark anime that has a character who is thrown into the middle of an apocalyptic desert world where there are no laws. It’s disheartening to see how many times Shuuzou gets back up despite being in so much pain, but it shows us just how strong he can be even when faced with all these odds against him. Now and Then, Here and There contains lots of violence along with torture as well as murder which isn’t suitable for children at all! Serial Experiments LainThis psychological avant-garde mystery series follows Lain as she makes decisions that will impact both real and virtual worlds. Only Lain will understand the significance of their presence after closing one world and opening another. While Lain struggles with concepts such as self-identity, belonging, and determining what is real, she is also facing loneliness, family issues, and cultural stigmas that continue to haunt Japan (and other societies) today. ClannadThe anime series Clannad is sad but also focuses on the importance of family. It has two seasons: twenty-three episodes for season one and twenty-four in season 2, where it shows how relationships change when faced with new challenges that come into adulthood. In this anime, we are able to watch a character’s entire life instead of just seeing him or her graduate high school or tie the knot. Clannad doesn’t pull any punches, however. The experience will leave you in tears and with a broken heart. It doesn’t matter whether opposites attract or similar personalities come together; love is in the air! It is not uncommon to develop a liking for fictional characters who are paired together or wish they would become a couple. Anime fans squeal with joy and sometimes tears of joy or sadness when two characters fall in love. Shows often focus on a variety of genres, but a dash of romance and anime relationships makes things more interesting! The 30 cutest anime couples we like the most are included in this list. For this list to be valid, these characters must officially be a couple or at least heavily implied as such by canon information. Let’s get right to it: Tomoya Okazaki & Nagisa Furukawa (Clannad)Clannad has been described as having one of the best romances in anime history. The story follows Tomoya, a delinquent boy who learns how to appreciate family and friends throughout his adventures with Nagisa. They become closer together after helping her overcome confidence issues; they marry and even have their own child by the end of Clannad After Story. Yuta and Rikka (Love, Chuunibyou, and Other Delusions)Sometimes escaping the real world using fantasies and delusions make everyday life even better. In Japan, Chuunibyo refers to those who live out a fantasy in their mind pretending to be fictional characters of choice. Yuta suffers from these delusions when he was a middle school boy, but starts high school with an open mind, despite being embarrassed by his past. But he soon encounters a girl who reminds him of his former self, who is suffering from delusions of her own. A new love story begins when she becomes interested in the past he hoped to keep hidden. Despite their seeming absurdity, the “delusions” actually bring the characters together and reveal some of their pasts. The two are bound together by their mutual strangeness and self-discovery, making them a great couple. Kaoru and Hajime Tsunashi (I Can’t Understand What My Husband Is Saying)When it comes to anime goals, these two should be a staple. It’s not uncommon to see the boyfriend/husband portrayed as an otaku. When his girlfriend/wife truly attempts to understand where he is coming from and not just makes jokes about it, that’s a bit rarer. Kaoru is not without her quirks either. It’s hard to imagine anything between them creating a wedge. They seem like such a happy couple. Check Out: 23 Of The Best Rom Com Anime Of All Time Takeo Gouda & Yamato Rinko (My Love Story)Often, in shoujo anime standards, male love interests are seen as “pretty boys” who capture the heroine’s attention. Shoujo is also usually told from the perspective of a female falling in love. In some cases, this is not true. With a central character who has a big heart and is unconventionally handsome, the main couple breaks boundaries in My Love Story. Yamato is a sweet, petite girl who instantly draws the attention of Gouda. Fearing she might fall for his friend, she instead falls for Gouda, making for a great and refreshing love story. It’s almost sickening how much Gouda and Yamato love each other. In addition, Gouda’s “bishounen” friend supports the pairing. Haruhi Fujioka & Tamaki Suoh (Ouran High School Host Club)The anime Ouran High School Host Club has one of the best relationships many anime don’t. In a story about a school girl named Haruhi, she must work for the host club after breaking an expensive vase. She meets all the members of the organization, including the eccentric president, Tamaki Suoh, who immediately warms up to her. Despite Tamaki’s denials, the two falls in love throughout the story. They admit their love for one another, however, and eventually wed at the end of the manga, much to Haruhi’s father’s dismay. This duo is a great complement to one another and the uniqueness of the anime. Yato & Iki Hiyori (Noragami)One day, high school girl Iki Hiyori happened upon the god Yato, who changed her life forever. One human who saw a god who looked like a human decided to risk her life for him, resulting in her soul separating from her body. There is good chemistry between the two. Hiyori is the level-headed student who wishes to return to normal, while Yato is a goofy god who wishes to be rich and showered with fortune. The human girl who appears in Yato’s life becomes his source of inspiration and love as he falls in love with her. Despite his carefree nature, Yato has a big heart and a tragic past. In addition, Hiyori’s obliviousness to his feelings adds to the romantic tension. Certainly one of anime’s most adorable couples. Check Out: 26 of The Best Anime Swordsman of All Time Kamina & Yoko Littner (Gurren Lagann)An anime classic, Gurren Lagann has wonderful characters and a wild universe that begins underground. Simon meets Yoko, a sniper girl, as he makes his way from the village below! Yoko is mortified when Kamina makes a move on her instantly, unable to resist the attraction Kamina feels for her. But as time goes by, they develop a real affection for one another and share kisses in battle. They complement each other’s outgoing personalities, making them a great team during their adventures. Kakeru & Naho (Orange)What would you do if you received a letter from the past that gave you step-by-step instructions on how to save a friend and fall in love? Naho, a high school student, received a letter from her future self predicting everything that would happen that day, including her love. Kakeru, a transfer student who is easygoing and friendly, starts attending their school, and Naho is immediately drawn to him. He is in danger, however, and Naho’s future self will stop at nothing to save him. She uses her judgment to follow the letters, even if they are forcing her to be more outgoing and forward so that certain events will not happen. Genuine love between them helps instil the idea of avoiding regrets in the future and living life to the fullest. It is a love that transcends time and space between Naho and Kakeru. Check Out: 50 Of The Best Schools in Anime Mitsuha Miyamizu and Taki Tachibana (Your Name)Despite the fact that they are technically not a couple, they may be the best example of love I have seen lately. It’s as if they’re kindred spirits, only that they’ve met in a supernatural way. Even though they did not meet until later in the story, their introduction was so important. You have to see this film for yourself to fully appreciate it, so I don’t want to spoil it too much. Therefore, I will just express my admiration for this beautiful couple and their splendid string of events. Naruto Uzumaki & Hinata Hyuuga (Naruto Series)For years fans have been waiting to see Naruto and Hinata end up together. Acting as a primary love interest for the ninja, Hinata has had feelings towards Naruto since they were young children, but it wasn’t until after his long journey that he became aware of them too. As a couple, both share considerable character development from start to finish which makes many people satisfied with their relationship ending in having even starting off another generation through Boruto, who stars in his own movie series now! Characters with the same level of iconic status are only apt. A young girl named Mikasa has difficulty expressing her feelings, and a young boy named Eren cannot seem to keep his mouth shut. This couples’ gap is probably what makes them such a cute pair. This couple resembles parents and children more than girlfriends and boyfriends. While watching the show, viewers can see the passionate bond they share with each other. Check Out: Anime Like Attack On Titan: What To Watch After Finishing The Show Risa Kozumi & Otani (Lovely Complex)It is always governed by societal rules and expectations when looking for a potential partner. An example could be when a guy asks a girl out first, or two popular students start dating. In this case, since Risa is taller than Otani in class, it is definitely about height and challenging stereotypes and anime standards. The contrast in their looks makes them a hilarious duo because they share many common interests. Risa develops a crush on Otani despite having many opportunities to date other people. The two complement each other in many ways. The bickering transforms into true love; the pairing also challenges stereotypes and norms. Also, they are a cute couple when they discuss their favorite menu items, rappers, or events throughout the year – despite the fact that sometimes Otani can be a jerk, he cares too much for Koizumi, so they get along so well! Usagi Tsukino and Mamoru Chiba (Sailor Moon)Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon have a truly magical romantic relationship. Over the years, fans have grown up with and adored a ship as superheroes with secret identities who always protect each other’s normal form from danger but fall in love without knowing their real identities until later on. Check Out: 15 Of The Best Anime Like Bleach Kirito And Asuna (Sword Art Online)There are many elements of the story in SAO that make it more believable. For instance, I could believe Kirito and Asuna’s love started because they met online, fell in love with each other quickly (in a virtual world), adopted a child together inside this virtual world, and did some NSFW things there too. They even managed to keep their strong bond alive when they were apart; Kazuto saved her from creepy people both during real-life situations and while she was still trapped in Aincrad/SAO itself! It might not be spicy like the others, but these aspects have been familiar for most people, making them comforting enough as well. Check Out: 30 Animes Like Sword Art Online That Will Transport You To A New World Yuuri and Viktor (Yuri On Ice)Viktor and Yuuri’s relationship is one that shines throughout the series as they both provide support to each other in a healthy way. The two form a perfect tandem where they need each other, forming an awesome sports anime couple that paves new ground on modern depictions of same-sex relationships within media today. Yuu Sonoda and Haruka Takayama (Sakura Trick)Yuu and Haruka are two friends who spend their childhoods together. They feature prominently as a common staple within Shonen anime, and they help define modern Japanese fan culture through epic battles that show viewers what it means to be honorable. There’s just something about a man wielding steel that makes anime characters so enthralling: their quiet strength, the way they dig into themselves to find it. So today, we’re running down our favorite sword fighters in all of anime! Keep in mind that this list is made with certain criteria such as likability and character design, and is not necessarily the strongest swordsman in anime. Kirito (Sword Art Online)In Sword Art Online, the protagonist, Kirito, has a vast knowledge of RPGs that makes him a very powerful character. He had numerous abilities, such as his Dual Blades ability, and defeated big bosses like Gleam Eyes that no one had been able to beat before. Using his real-life kendo training, he goes on to be one of the very OP anime swordsman characters. OP enough to play shooting games with a sword! Check Out: 30 Animes Like Sword Art Online That Will Transport You To A New World Reinhard van Astrea (Re: Zero)The Sword Saint Reinhard van Astrea is currently among the Royal Guard. Even when he’s off duty, he wears his uniform with his flaming red hair and blue eyes. Although we don’t see him in many fights when he is present, there isn’t a lot of tension since he always wins. Because of his immense power, he’s called the Knight of all Knights, but he’s also a chill dude who helps strangers enforce justice when needed. Check Out: 10 Anime To Watch If You Can’t Get Enough Of RE:ZERO Askeladd (Vinland Saga)Askeladd, a man without any flashy moves to rely on, has serious feats under his belt. Thorfinn never managed to challenge him in combat, and Askeladd was able to take out multiple enemies at once, which shows how deadly he is in battle. Mugen (Samurai Champloo)Mugen seems to be a naturally talented fighter who can take down trained samurai with ease. He’s probably as powerful as Jin, but he hasn’t quite tapped into his full potential yet, which is why he is the best in Samurai Champloo. His unpredictability and parkour are very entertaining. Stain (My Hero Academia)Stain is a unique character and uses his quirks to their full potential. Although he has average power, Stain’s skills with the blade allow him to take down dozens of pro heroes without sustaining any injuries himself. Check Out: Must Watch Anime Like My Hero Academia Yami Sukehiro (Black Clover)Being a skilled swordsman, Yami can defeat most people with just a simple stick. Because of his magic, every swing packs a huge punch, and he uses it to perfectly predict any incoming attack. Additionally, due to him having ki, he is able to deflect light attacks while holding conversations with no problem at all! Personally, I don’t think that Yami is skillful, but we can agree on the fact that she, without doubt, has power. Killer Bee couldn’t be content with just one weapon. As a result, he chose seven instead. To me, the simple fact that he can move around, let alone face off against Sasuke while wielding seven swords, is awe-inspiring. His rapping is also quite entertaining. Check Out: 12 Of The Best Anime Like Naruto & Naruto: Shippuden Mi-Ra Yu (God of Highschool)The 25th Master of the Moon Light Sword Style, Yu Mi-Ra, is invited to participate in a high school tournament. She shows potential for greatness but doesn’t progress much as she didn’t reach her full mastery by the end of the season. But it is undeniable that she is on her way to being a great anime swordsman. Read the source material. Anri Sonohara (Durarara!!)Anri Sonohara holds a lot of power, but she hasn’t mastered the wielding of her sword just yet. She has complete control over anyone within reach and can basically create an army with this ability. It’s mentally taxing to use her powers like this, so if she ever starts jumping around on the battlefield while using them, then it’ll be near impossible for opponents to beat her in battle. Check Out: The Top 20 Craziest Yandere Characters In Anime Yato (Norigami)The god Yato attempts to build his own shrine. He usually charges 5 yen for helping people, but don’t be fooled: he used to be a feared war god known as the “God of Calamity.” Akame (Akame Ga Kill)Akame became the most powerful character in her entire series after we learned that, despite popular belief, she could tap into a hacking category of fighting. She achieved this by having incredible speed, agility, and precision with her sword. This made it possible to predict what would happen next, but then everything changed when Akame’s special abilities started going towards an OP category where a single cut is basically a guaranteed victory. Lay Glanzudlii ( The Misfit of Demon King Academy)The most powerful character in the entire anime series is Lay, because he has incredibly high stats all around. With incredible speed, strength, and waifu taste, it’s extremely difficult to defeat him in 1vs1 combat. Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)Everyone’s favorite Substitute Soul Reaper and edgy, orange hair teenage heartthrob: Ichigo Kurasaki from Bleach is infamous for blending the gentle Kurosawa swordplay with immense Shonen-level power. Check Out: 30 Intriguing Anime Characters with Green Hair Sakata Gintoki (Gintama)Being a samurai and wielding wooden swords, Gintoki Sakata is certainly one of the most badass characters in anime. In addition to epic battles against Yato King Hosen, Oboro, or Takasugi, they make for some amazing action scenes and drive home how much of a badass Gin really is. Hiei (Yuu Yuu Hakusho)In Hiei’s possession is a sword, which he can employ both as a combat weapon and as a means of securely channeling the evil fires of the underworld, though he only sometimes employs this ability because he considers it “barbaric.” On top of a well-muscled frame, he possesses exceptional speed, accuracy, and pinpoint precision. Check Out: Anime Like Attack On Titan: What To Watch After Finishing The Show Afro Samurai (Afro Samurai)Afro Samurai is a popular anime series that you don’t want to miss. The show features an amazing protagonist with many opportunities to demonstrate his incredible fighting skills, which are unlike anything ever seen before. The series offers bloody and brutal animated sword fights within the first nine minutes of the first episode that set the tone of the anime. Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin)The most iconic and influential swordsman in the anime universe is Kenshin Himura, who once served as a tool of mass death for his feudal lord before wandering the land as a rurouni. However, despite his polite demeanor, he should not be underestimated since he has risen through the samurai ranks and is known as one of the strongest swordsmen at an early age with some of the fastest slashes in history that can cut limbs cleanly, it seems that they are still attached. Nanashi (Sword of the Stranger)Nanashi is an exceptionally skilled swordsman, even though he doesn’t possess any super powers. As with Kenshin Himura, Nanashi is also an elite warrior who has given up his sword and attempted to seek redemption. Yet, once they start fighting, they easily outperform everyone on this list. Teresa of the Faint Smile (Claymore)Teresa of the Faint Smile offers a deadly smile as she effortlessly kills enemies. She is the most powerful breed of her age and is considered to be among the strongest Claymores. In addition to her great speed, she also has an unmatched ability to sense the Yoma aura; she can even predict how their opponents will react in battle! Teresa never used more than ten percent of her power, even when she faced awakened former number one Rosemary. Otono-Tachibana, Makie (Blade of the Immortal)This last anime sword fighter is a bit tricky since she doesn’t use swords. Known as Haru-no-Okina (Old Man of Spring), her weapon is a three-sectioned staff with double blades. The weapon is concealed inside a hollowed-out mandolin-like shamisen. But despite that, she is the best fighter that uses blades in the anime series.
